Flautas "flutes" are named after the shape of the rolled tortillas. Leftover chicken or shredded beef are the perfect to make flautas. Top it with shredded lettuce, guacamole and mexican cream.

Flautas are really great snacks for parties because are easy to make and can be eat while standing.

This recipe is made of shredded tongue. I used corn tortilla, shredded beef filling and top it up with shredded lettuce, guacamole and crema mexicana. Fry the flautas over high heat putting the flautas with seam side down, wait until are crispy light brown. Serve with Mexican rice, salad, guacamole and pico de gallo.

Ingredients:

8-10 corn tortillas

1/2 shredded lettuce

1 avocado (guacamole)

1 tablespoon chopped cilantro

mexican cream

1 cup cooking oil

2 cups of shredded beef or chicken

Instructions:

place the filling into the corn tortilla and roll it very tightly, using toothpicks to keep it from coming undone.

Pour the cooking oil in a large cast iron pan over high heat until very hot, fry the flautas until crispy or light brown about 3 minutes each. You will need to roll them to be cooked evenly.

Remove the picks from the flautas and serve with iceberg lettuce, guacamole and crema mexicana.

Enjoy.
