Roasted Salsa Verde- Salsa verde asada.

Salsa Verde is made with fresh ingredients is very healthy and tasty. This recipe is made with roasted tomatillos, onions, garlic and jalapenos. When roasting the ingredients it adds a smoky flavor to the salsa.

You can customize the salsa with much heat as you want by adding more peppers to the recipe. Jalapenos has a middle heat option, if you remove the seeds from the peppers, most of the heat comes from the membranes.



Salsa Verde can be serve as an appetizer with chips, with enchiladas, pork guisado, with tacos, with eggs, and more. Wherever your choose to do, this salsa recipe will be an excellent place to start enjoying this flavorful fruit.


Ingredients:

1 pound of green roasted tomatillos (husk removed) can be roasted on a outdoor grill or iron cast on cook top.

3-5 roasted jalapenos (how many will be optional)

2 cloves of garlic

1/3 roasted onion

1 lime juice

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon vinegar (optional)

1 teaspoon olive oil (optional)


Instructions:

Preheat iron cast (comal) or set the outdoor grill.

Lay down the green tomatillos, onions, jalapenos and garlic to be roast for 3-5 minutes to get the skin blistered brown or slightly black charred spots.

Add all the roasted ingredients to a food processor or a blender, add the cilantro, salt, cumin, lime juice, vinegar, olive oil and add 1/2 cup of water to thin out the salsa if you prefer or until is fairly smooth.

The green salsa can be served raw or cooked you can try both recipes.

Receta en Espano:

Ingredientes:

1 libra de tomatillos verdes rostizados sin las hojas.

3-5 jalapenos rostizados o mas (de acuerdo a la preferencia picante)

2 ajos

1/3 cebolla rostizada

1/2 cucharada sal

1/2 cucharada de comino

1 limón el jugo

1 cucharada de vinagre (optional)

1 cucharada de aceite de oliva (optional)


Instrucciones:

En el asador afuera puedes poner los tomatillos, los jalapenos, ajo y la cebolla para que se cocinen. También puedes cocinarlos en un sartén o el comal para que se puedan rostizar.

Una vez que los miras con la piel rostizada, los puedes sacar de la lumbre y agregarlos al procesador de comida o a la licuadora. Le agregas el cilantro, comino, sal, jugo de limon, vinagre y aceite de oliva. Todos los ingredientes se van a mezclar muy bien y si prefieres una salsa mas licuada le puedes agregar agua.


La salsa se puede consumir cruda o cocida. Puedes probar las dos recetas.
